ChaosMagick.Com was, in many ways, a melting pot of occult ideas and viewpoints extending far beyond the usual pop culture mysticism which typifies that most iconoclastic of not quite traditions. And thankfully my position as assistant editor allowed me more freedom than most in what I chose to contribute. The following article, originally seeing digital print in early 2023, is a little more on the adult side, and was a lot of fun to write due to the need to keep the obviously salacious aspects hidden behind a more dispassionate voice than usual. I like it, but whether or not I succeeded is up to the reader, of course.

Sexual Tulpamancy
Fun With the Friends We Make Along the Way
By Gavin Fox

No matter how puritan the culture, humans will always remain sexual creatures. Along with money and vengeance, ritualistic endeavours designed to feed this often taboo biological imperative number among the most common forms of spellcraft practised today. Entire occult systems have grown up around the concept of mythologizing the orgasm, many of which owe a debt to the writings of Aleister Crowley. Yet in hindsight his influences on the art are little better than cliff notes to a much broader topic. Spectrophilia, or sex with spirits, has been deeply rooted in our collective psyche from the earliest days of civilisation. And regular intercourse with something that goes bump in the night is more than achievable, as long as the chaote is willing to put in the work.

Stan Gooch, an unsung hero of the Parapsychological field who was unjustly ostracised for openly exploring such concepts spent much of his later life researching the weirder side of the supernatural realm. The resulting work, The Origins Of Psychic Phenomena, details experiences with what he considered to be a succubus that was actively disguising itself as a patchwork of previous lovers to get close to him. It also collects similar encounters reported by other people who had very little to gain from admitting to being preyed upon by such entities. This should show that sexual commerce between people and spirits does indeed happen, though it is almost impossible to force.

While some like Gooch may prefer to go down the incubus and succubus route by passively waiting for something to notice their pent up sexual energy, working with such entities carries its own dangers. Plus the odds of such a visit remain extremely low, and regular opportunities for intercourse doubly so. The denizens of the unreal world are not playthings who can be commanded to appear at will, nor do they stay in the magickian’s life any longer than is necessary once their otherworldly appetites are satiated. That said with the right combination of willpower, lucid dreaming and a little imagination a talented magickian can in fact create an unreal partner that will perform on command.

The first order of business is for the chaote to decide upon the sort of girl, guy or amalgamation of the two that they wish to visualise into existence. Imagination is the only thing holding them back here. As with Gooch’s patchwork succubus, famous film stars and starlets, gods and goddesses, even old friends and bitter enemies can be retooled as they pass through the minds eye. For those with more abstract tastes completely fantastical creatures such as catgirls or wolfboys are an option. Indeed any fictional character becomes a possible nocturnal playmate, comic book superheroes and literary villains included.

Once the magickian has decided upon the object of their carnal desires, or just cobbled together a gestalt creation from the best bits of various porn stars, cartoon characters and ex boyfriends, it is time to empower the tulpa. Unfortunately the usual fire and forget sigilisation method will not be enough here, and we must instead return to Crowley and his experiments in eroto-comatose lucidity. This process, which at its most basic involves the practitioner being assisted by their subordinates in reaching an altered state of consciousness through a combination of physical exhaustion and sexual stimulation, can be undertaken alone with a few minor alterations.

The solo version of eroto-comatose lucidity will obviously require the magickian to force both the exhausted and sexually aroused states on themselves without the assistance of others. This takes far more planning and preparation than the group ritual Crowley described, and setting a series of timers which will point the magickian to the next required action may aid in staying on track. Lack of sleep before the operation is commenced and strenuous exercise during it will work to tire the chaote out to the point of collapse. When this is alternated with sexual stimulation to just before climax over many hours it creates the very waking dream state that is required to program a tulpa.

While in this ultra lucid state The chaote begins transferring energy to their creation through a process of saturation. Images work at this stage, photos and stories, videos and scents. All that is required is something to get the senses deeply invested while creeping ever closer to a final, exhausted orgasm. After a while said tools will become less instrumental to the process, though find a secondary use as triggers to help summon the tulpa after it has already been born. Many layers of masturbatory ritual will be required, repetition being key to the formation of their personality, and weeks of strenuous effort should lead to viable results.

Eventually the masturbatory process itself becomes distinctly hands off as the magickian should be able to feel the tulpa either surrounding their genitals during the later stages of the operation or penetrating them, depending on preference. It is normal to lose concentration at this point as the inevitable wave of pride dilutes the altered state of mind required for the pseudo-entity to function in the not quite real world. But once it has been fed enough energy through repeated applications of exhausted lucidity it will begin to make itself known in the chaote’s dreams and within their minds eye during waking consciousness too.

From here on it is ready to summon without the need for any more strenuous effort. A final word of warning, however. Over time the tulpa may start to develop a personality all of its own. The first sign of this growing complexity is usually an attempt to instigate sexual intercourse based on what it perceives as its own needs and desires, usually at inappropriate times of the day or in public locations. This is a slippery slope towards allowing the magickal equivalent of an onboard artificial intelligence to achieve autonomy, and should be avoided unless the magickian is comfortable exploring the possibility of a fully formed secondary personality residing within their head.
